The tarps simply don\u2019t work on tiled, slate or metal roofs.<\/p>\n<p>Three companies were approached for a solution, including Matthew Lennox from West Palm Beach, Florida-based Stormseal.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019ve been talking with USACE for the past 5 years outlining the benefits of Stormseal,\u201d Mr. Lennox said. \u201cI\u2019m so thrilled we could assist Operation Blue Roof and those affected by Hurricane Ida.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The shrink wrap pilot program involves installing Stormseal\u2019s product over a damaged roof, secured at the perimeter with furring strips. A contractor then uses heat to shrink the material and create a water-tight seal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/djKwCWdzlFE\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The selection process was done using the Center for Disease Control\u2019s Social Vulnerability Index, to determine areas that needed the most support.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Homeowner Diane Gros, in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, said she had exhausted all of her options to make the necessary repairs to her home and didn\u2019t have insurance. \u201cThank you all for what you are doing,\u201d she said. \u201cUntil you called, nobody was willing to help me.
