Stormseal holds two patents<\/strong>, one covering the chemistry of the polyethylene film and the other covering the Stormseal field application method. The dual Patents offer IP protection for companies using the innovative product and method. Government bodies, insurance carriers and multinationals look for trusted brands that have Patent and Trademark protection for their customers, Stormseal ticks those boxes<\/p>\nStormseal founder and managing director Matthew Lennox said the patent protection was one of the first things he arranged after inventing Stormseal, a polyethylene film that heat shrinks to cover damaged roofs or walls. The product provides secure, cost-effective protection from the weather until permanent repairs can be made.<\/p>\n
Unlike tarpaulins, Stormseal does not blow away or leak. \u201cI researched it for about three months to make sure that no one else had this idea,\u201d Lennox said. \u201cThere was nothing else like it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Patents can be granted for any device, substance, method or process that is new, inventive and useful. It provides a legally-enforceable right to commercially exploit the invention for the life of the patent. In Australia, standard patents are valid for 20 years, but continuous improvements allow for the patent life to be extended.<\/p>\n
The Stormseal name and logo are also protected as registered trade marks.<\/strong> This helps the company\u2019s products stand out in the marketplace, and prevent other companies from using the Stormseal brand.<\/p>\nStormseal patents are in place in Australia, New Zealand, the US, the UK and Europe, with patent-protection pending in China and India.
